Endgame

Potential Spoilers Below

I keep telling everyone that similarities between The Wheel of Time (TWOT) and A Song of Ice and Fire (ASOIAF) are vast even if there are those out there that say otherwise.

Chapter 1: A One-Trick Pony

What do we know?  Dany goes back to the one card she constantly pulls out of her sleeve; she burns people.  She burned Khal Drogo and Mirri Maz Duur, on a funeral pyre, when she first brought dragons back into the world.  When her dragons were locked up, she took people into the pits and had her dragons burn them as a way to get those remaining to submit to her will.  She burned several people, they were trying to kill her, as she climbed onto Drogon’s back and flew away.  She burned all the Khals at Vaez Dothrak to become the Stallion Who Mounts the World.  She burned Sam’s dad and brother when they wouldn’t kneel to her as their queen.  What I’m trying to say is that she and fire have a serious relationship.  It this the reason why she was referred to as mother of dragons, bride of fire” by the Undying Ones within the House of the Undying?

Chapter 2: The Break-up begins

It isn’t hard to see that Dany is a control freak.  As long as you bow and kneel you are good.  But now that we know that Jon Snow has the better claim to the throne than she does based upon her own logic what does that mean.  First let me say I don’t think Jon wants the throne at all.  He really wants to do what is right for all the people.  The people in the north don’t like strangers coming in telling them what to do and are stubborn, like the free folk, and don’t bend the knee easily.  She basically threatened Sansa to Jon.  With Dany’s temper that could that lead her to go fall back to her “One-Trick Pony”.

Jon has spoken to Sam and he raised the same worries that Dany may not be the right fit for the job.  Jon still defends her this time with the realization that she is his aunt.  Will that knowledge cause problem with Jon as he wasn’t brought up like that?  I believe that Dany will learn the truth prior to the Battle for Winterfell and that will start to chip away at what they feel for each other right now.

Chapter 3: The Battle for Winterfell

Both armies will line up and be ready to face each other.  The Night King or his lieutenants may send Hodor down to weaken the resolve of the Stark clan.  The Night King hopes that seeing the gentle giant as a wight will throw the Stark’s off their game.  This is a fight for all of mankind and Hodor dies his final death as the camera pans to Bran’s face who is emotionless as ever.  For hours they fight but the Army of the Dead is relentless and doesn’t need food or rest.  The living that are killed are simply made part of the ever-growing army.  The Night King hadn’t shown himself in the battle as of yet but his lieutenants are just as deadly with the ice javelins as Rhaegal took a hit to one of his wings during the early stages of the fight.   Being hurt Jon returns to defend Winterfell as Dany continues to fight sparingly along the fringes wary of losing another of her children.  Morale is extremely low as the Army of the Dead seems to have no end of soldiers upon which to call.  The scene switches back to a conference being held with the key players and they start talking about protecting the women and children by sneaking them off to the south.  The discussion leads to the fact that they would be run down like sheep if the Night Kings makes an appearance from the skies.  Someone mentions that their side has two dragons with which to fight and Jon reminds them that Dany’s dragons are not at full strength as the northern cold doesn’t seem to agree with them.  Words spreads and the women and children and those not able to fight within the crypts start to worry that death is all but a foregone conclusion.  This is when Sam and Bran start a conversation in which the topic shifts to the story of Joramun and Brandon the Breaker.  We see Bran’s eyes go white as he shifts back through time in an attempt to find an answer.  He returns and tells Sam that there was indeed a legendary Horn of Winter and if they had it maybe they would have a small change of survival.  Bran tells Sam that the wildlings started out as rangers of the Night’s Watch.  During this time Joramun had possession of the horn as a forward scout.  He tells him that the White Walkers launched an attack and Joramun blew the horn to awaken storied heroes to fight against the Army of the Dead.  He explains that Brandon the Breaker and Joramun were fast friends; as they were in fact cousins.  After the White Walker threat was dealt with rangers stayed beyond the Wall and eventually raised families and stayed north of the Wall.  Over time the true threat was forgotten along with the horn and both thought just a story to tell your children at night.  Bran describes this horn and Sam’s eyes go wide and goes in search of Gilly who is looking after other children along with little Sam.  The scene shifts back to the fighting and bloody faces; without rest or reinforcements exhaustion would eventually lead to their inevitable defeat.  He asks her where the horn that little Sam likes to play with so much.  She finds the horn and Sam goes running back to Bran.  Bran then calls for Jon and Sansa and tells them that they have to prepare to move south.  Jon tells him they can’t retreat as they would be overrun and everyone would be trampled and killed by Night King’s advancing army.  Jon tells Bran that the horn is broken anyway; telling them how he tried to blow it when he found and made a gift of it to Sam to remember his time ranging north of the Wall.  Bran explains that the magic spells within the horn only allows it to work when needed.  Within an hour word had been passed throughout the ranks that when the signal was given everyone was to retreat and their host would move south.  Bran questions Jon and Sansa as to why they were always taught that “There must always be a Stark in Winterfell”?  Because the Stark in Winterfell has to lead the Kings of Winter.  Jon responds with “what do you mean lead and what Kings of Winter?”  Not really lead but be a figurehead to rally behind; Bran exclaimed.  Father would have been the natural choice but since he isn’t here… they both turned to look at Sansa.  Sansa looked back and Jon and he responded back with “You’re the Lady of Winterfell” and she took the horn and raised it to her lips.  An eerie sound fanned out throughout the battlefield.  Dany caught unprepared was about to be struck from behind with an ice javelin, from the Night King, when Rhaegal swoops in at the last instant and takes the spear intended for Drogon and plummets from the skies.  Dany devastated by the death of another of her children does the only thing she can and flees.  Dany is flying for her very life with the Night King in pursuit.

Click here to read and understand how I came up with the following:

The crypts begin to rumble and ghostly apparitions begin to appear; among them Ned and Lyanna; including 13 other faces that looked like the faces within the crypts that they played among as children.  Lyanna tells Jon she is proud of him but he has to get the people to safety.  Ned, wielding Ice, tells Sansa that she has come far but that they would take it from here.  He tells her that they will give them the time needed to get the people south.  Robert then approaches his giant warhammer in hand telling Ned the battle will be over if he continues to talk.  Outside the crypts you see more ghostly apparitions among them on a huge stallion sat a Dothraki; braid uncut.  Khal Drogo rides laughing cutting his way towards a White Walker and engages in battle.  The Army of the Dead advance is halted as more spirits join the battle against them.  Ned looks to Bran and tells him he has a bit further to go before his journey begins and with that the spirits were gone to join the fight.   Time passes…   Dany with tears in her eyes sets out walking leaving behind a dying Drogon; a wound taken by an ice spear to his side.  Further along as she walked, she is approached by men dressed in armor.  How far had he taken her where was she?  Lannister men as she saw as they approached.  She heard one man say the Queen will pay handsomely for what we have found today as they erupted in laughter.  The scene fades back to Bran who tells Jon and Sansa that they have to leave him here as the Night King was after him and that they would all die unless they did so.  The looked at each other and both kissed him on the forehead and the host proceeded without him.  Bran looks skyward as the last of the people disappear from sight.

A few hours later what Bran was looking for comes into view as he see’s the Night King approaching from the North.  He lands the dragons and walks towards Bran.  Bran starts speaking as the Night King stops about 15 feet short of his position and just looks at him.  Bran tells him that it was he who stopped him from killing Daenerys.  He tells him that their connection works both ways.  Just like you were able to break my warg to the crows I broke your warg to your dragon.  As you fell from the skies, she was able to get away from you and escape.  The Night King starts walking towards Bran and raises his blade to strike when he lowers it and looks around shock on his once emotionless face.  Bran was simply gone.

Chapter 4: The man who passes the sentence…

Click here to understand the following story:

As the refugees from the Battle of Winterfell moves south a rider approaches with a woman dressed in red in tow.  Melisandre looking as confident as ever approaches Jon Snow.  This woman the man exclaims as to speak with you.  Jon unmounts his horse and she does the same.  Sansa and Arya all the while observing his every move.  Jon tell her “I told you to ride south and never return to the north”.  On the day you would I promised to have you hanged for the murder of the girl Shireen.  She tells him that he needs her and that the world would perish had she not returned.  Someone ask’s Jon if he should retrieve a rope and he responds with “The man who passes the sentence should swing the sword”.

Two men force her to her knees; Melisandre breaths heavily and tears form in her eyes as she looks up at him briefly before turning back to look at the ground.  Davos look on; holding a burned toy in his hand.  Jon pulls Longclaw; it will be Dawn in the books; and raises the sword.  Before he strikes Melisandre say’s “You know nothing, Jon Snow” and the blade strikes true killing her.  Too late Jon thinks back to how he had mistaken her for Ygritte before and how she had spoken the same words to him.  He felt the loss of Ygritte all over again.  He cleaned his sword and they proceeded on their journey south.

Chapter 5: The Queen’s Justice?

Click here to understand why Qyburn is doing what he does

Dany stands before the throne hands bound, stripped and naked as Cersei sips a cup of wine with the Mountain and Qyburn at her side.  Cersei laughs and tells her she is nothing without her dragons.  Looking at Qyburn she asks him “What do you call a dragon queen who has no more dragons?”  Cersei tells her to beg for her favor and maybe she will be a forgiving queen.  Dany refuses to do so.  A frown appears on Cersei’s face and she tell Qyburn to “Break the bitch and send her back to me on her knees”.  She adds “Don’t get too carried away I want her to live and serve her true queen until the day I end her miserable life”.  Qyburn then leads her away to the black cells.  Having undergone weeks of torture Dany’s resolve weakens when Qyburn tells her she is with child.  Dany agrees to be the obedient subject to the queen if she could just see the sky once more.  Qyburn; a smile on his face; proceeds to take her the spot where he delivered the news of the dead breaking through the Wall to the queen.

It will be at this moment that the Night King riding Viserion will swoop out of the sky and his blue white flame will consume Qyburn.  Viserion will land and the Night King will approach Dany.  He will extend a hand and she will take it willingly.  He will touch her forehead and her eyes will become bluer than blue.  Benioff told us the following about the Night King "I don’t think of him as evil, I think of him as Death”.  This will make true the moment that the Undying ones said she was the mother of dragons, daughter of death.”   This is the moment that Dany also becomes the corpse queen.

Click here to see why I believe Dany is the Night’s King corpse queen from the stories of old.

The Night King remounts and takes to the skies when a reanimated Drogon lands and Dany also takes flight.  Dany flies toward the city as the Night King is not far off.  We also notice a third dragon Rhaegal by the look as the Night King has also brought him back as well.  Dany flies over the Red Keep and unleashes blue flame onto the dome.  Just then we hear a bolt release and a large arrow flies across the sky from the dragonbow and pierces the side of Rhaegal who falls dead upon the city below.  We hear more bolts release as the city has been armed with several dragonbow’s placed strategically around the city.  We see both the Night King and Dany fly away from the city.

The scene shifts to Cersei who in outrage yelling at her council on why Qyburn would be so stupid as to release the Targaryen girl from the black cells without her consent.  They tell her that the throne room has a hole in the roof and it will take some time to try and repair it.  They tell her that her hand was killed by dragon fire and she remarks he wasn’t a total imbecile as he at least had enough forethought to design enough weapons and arm the city for just such an attack.  Her council members suggest that they immediate set about burning the dragon as they didn’t know if the Night King could bring it back yet again.

Chapter 6: The boy becomes a man

Click here to see my theory on this section

We see Bran sitting in a clearing and a horse driven cart drives along with a man and woman who stop.  The man speaks “Boy why are you sitting in the middle of the road”.  He tells them that he has lost the use of his legs and they ask where his family gone.  He tells them that they were fighting in the Battle for Winterfell as the Night King had broken through the Wall.  They look at each other and ask him how long he has been sitting there and whether or not he fell on his head as well.  They tell him that they are on their way to Storm’s End to help with the building of the sixth castle.  They ask him since his family is dead would he want to go along with them.  They help him onto their wagon and they continue their journey to Storm’s End.  As they are going down the road the woman turn’s to Bran and ask him how big this wall was that this Night King broke through?  Bran smiles and says that is a story for another time; it is time I grow to become a man.

“Five more castles he built, each larger and stronger than the last, only to see them smashed asunder when the gale winds came howling up Shipbreaker Bay, driving great walls of water before them. His lords pleaded with him to build inland; his priests told him he must placate the gods by giving Elenei back to the sea; even his smallfolk begged him to relent. Durran would have none of it. A seventh castle he raised, most massive of all. Some said the children of the forest helped him build it, shaping the stones with magic; others claimed that a small boy told him what he must do, a boy who would grow to be Bran the Builder. No matter how the tale was told, the end was the same. Though the angry gods threw storm after storm against it, the seventh castle stood defiant, and Durran Godsgrief and fair Elenei dwelt there together until the end of their days.”

He says almost because in the books only a few years have passed not nine like in the TV series.  He would still be a boy in the books.

Since HBO released this on the Season 1 DVD I have always thought that Bran time traveled back to the past physically
Chapter 10: To wake dragons out of stone

The legends speak of a hero who shall be born again to wake dragons out of stone.  When the red star bleeds and the darkness gathers, Azor Ahai shall be born again amidst smoke and salt to wake dragons out of stone.  I have always believed that Jon Snow was Azor Aha but the biggest problem was with the last part of the prophecy “waking stone dragons.”  Dany woke dragons out of stone but it took time for them to grow to be the formidable weapons of war that they have become.  If Jon Snow did the same thing, they wouldn’t be large enough to be of any use during the war that is already upon him.  So how would dragons big enough to threaten the remaining Army of the Dead and the Night King and Dany also?  Bran of course planned it all out from the beginning.  But first a little history lesson on dragons.

The Valyrians were originally a sheepherding folk of the Valyrian peninsula. When they discovered dragons lairing in the Fourteen Flames, however, their rise to power began. The Valyrians believed that dragons were the children of the volcanoes.

“We can dismiss Mushroom’s claim in his Testimony that the dragon Vermax left a clutch of eggs somewhere in the depths of Winterfell’s crypts, where the waters of the hot springs run close to the walls, while his rider treated with Cregan Stark at the start of the Dance of the Dragons. As Archmaester Gyldayn notes in his fragmentary history, there is no record that Vermax ever laid so much as a single egg, suggesting the dragon was male. The belief that dragons could change sex at need is erroneous, according to Maester Anson’s Truth, rooted in a misunderstanding of the esoteric metaphor that Barth preferred when discussing the higher mysteries.”

When it comes to a maester’s account of historical facts that date back long ago I normally go against what they say.  Using the maesters of this time as a guide the things that they say are fiction normally turn out to be fact.

“Hot springs such as the one beneath Winterfell have been shown to be heated by the furnaces of the world—the same fires that made the Fourteen Flames or the smoking mountain of Dragonstone. Yet the smallfolk of Winterfell and the winter town have been known to claim that the springs are heated by the breath of a dragon that sleeps beneath the castle. This is even more foolish than Mushroom’s claims and need not be given any consideration.”

You have to realize that Bran has been around for a long time; before the Wall was built as he was the one who built it.  He most likely just warged someone the same way the 3EC who taught Bran; he stayed to long and a part of him was left behind in the man who eventually got turned into the Night King by the COTF.  This is why he looked on in horror as the man was turned.  With part of him in the man the COTF knew they could utilize his warging ability on the dead and create an army to defeat the First Men.  As you can see the 3EC looked back on it painfully as he knew he was the reason for the Night King to begin with.

He looks on in horror as this is the man he stayed in too long and the COTF used him to create the Night King.  The 3EC's warging ability is used by the Night King to warg dead things.

To get back to what I was saying.  Bran wargs someone from time to time and doesn’t stay to long as he doesn’t want something similar to occur.  He could have also done it by giving the person a dream the same way Quaithe does with Dany.  Either way the person moved Vermax’s eggs into the incubator of the Fourteen Flames beneath Winterfell.  The dragon eggs hatched and Bran used his magic to bind the dragons to a signal that would bond them to the holder of said signal.  They fed and were nourished off the same thing that the original dragons discovered by the Valyrians.  These dragons however are huge as they have been around for hundreds of years.  Remember what Dany said when she and Jon went on a dragon joy ride.

“In the Seven Kingdoms, there are tales of dragons who grew so huge that they could pluck giant krakens from the seas.”

Dany laughed. “That would be a wondrous sight to see.”

“It is only a tale, Khaleesi,” said her exile knight. “They talk of wise old dragons living a thousand years as well.”

“Well, how long does a dragon live?” She looked up as Viserion swooped low over the ship, his wings beating slowly and stirring the limp sails.

Ser Jorah shrugged. “A dragon’s natural span of days is many times as long as a man’s, or so the songs would have us believe . . . but the dragons the Seven Kingdoms knew best were those of House Targaryen. They were bred for war, and in war they died. It is no easy thing to slay a dragon, but it can be done.”

I believe that the signal like the horn was part of Bran’s plan.  The signal would be activated in the presence of what it was meant to combat.  In case you haven’t figured it out the signal is Lightbringer.  When Jon triggers the signal and the swords lights the dragons will wake and be drawn to him like Batman to the bat signal.

Chapter 11: Impossible choices

Jon and his troops have finally reached King’s Landing with dawn approaching and winter in full bloom.  Unfortunately, they are surrounded on 2 sides now.  Cersei is in front of them and the Night King’s Army of the Dead behind them.  Jaime makes a desperate plea to talk his sister into helping fight against the dead.  They allow him to do so but have little faith in her doing so.  Dothraki scouts approach and tell Jon that they have a few hours before they are overrun by the dead.  Trapped outside the city walls they will find themselves in desperate need of another miracle.  Varys, the spider, tells Jon and crew that he may have another way into the city walls and asks for a small group to escort him.  Tyrion makes a joke about Varys acting the hero and the two of them part ways.  As they find themselves on the other side of the city, they are caught off guard when they see Dany swoop down from the skies on Drogon speaking a strange tongue.  His eyes go wide as he realizes what it is, he was hearing:

“One day at Myr, a certain man came to our folly. After the performance, he made an offer for me that my master found too tempting to refuse. I was in terror. I feared the man meant to use me as I had heard men used small boys, but in truth the only part of me he had need of was my manhood. He gave me a potion that made me powerless to move or speak, yet did nothing to dull my senses. With a long hooked blade, he sliced me root and stem, chanting all the while. I watched him burn my manly parts on a brazier. The flames turned blue, and I heard a voice answer his call, though I did not understand the words they spoke.

It only took a moment as blue white fire erupted from the dragon’s mouth and the scouting party was all killed.  Varys the man who stayed in the shadows came out of his nest and was stomped like a bug.

Jaime approaches the city gate and he is allowed to enter; where he is escorted to the queen by Harry Strickland.  He tries to reason with Cersei telling her the dead are approaching their door steps.  Cersei asks why she should care as she is safe behind the walls of the city whereas the people, he betrayed her for are the ones who will be slaughtered.  He tries to reason with her that they all need to fight the Night King together.  She dismisses the captatin-general of the Golden Company; telling him to return to his post and defend the city.  Cersei looks at the Mountain and motions him towards Jaime.  The Mountain unsheathes his sword and impales and kills Jaime.  Cersei sits upon the throne, the ceiling having been repaired, tears starting to form in her eyes as Jaime lay dead at her feet.

Harry Strickland is sent word by his men that another Army is approaching.  He assesses the situation and orders the guards to open the gates.  The man questions his orders and he cut him down with his sword.  Anyone else want to countermand my orders and 2 men rush to do as they are told.  The women and children rush towards the city but the fighters commanded by Jon start making plans to fight the dead.  The Golden Company make their way to Jon and his men and are greeted with trepidation.  Jon pull his swords but this time Jon’s swords lights up as bright as day and gives off heat.  Harry tells Jon that their swords are his.  The scene shifts to 3 other locations.  We see 3 huge dragons climb their way from beneath the earth from Dragonstone, the Waterfall that Dany and Jon flew to and another location that wasn’t known to the viewers.  They all three leap into the sky and fly towards the fighting.  The scene shift back to King’s Landing.  Davos cries Lightbringer and the others stare in disbelief.  Sansa has made her way into the city guarded by the Hound and are making their way towards the throne room.  Cersei at some point will find out that Harry has opened the gates and will order the Mountain, in Mad Queen style, to burn them all, as she lay crying holding Jaime’s body.  Men still loyal to Cersei are fighting the people streaming into the city.  The Night King comes onto the scene and raises the dead that have fallen in battle.

Click here to see how CleganeBowl is kicked off.  This also shows you what will befall Cersei.

At the rear of the Army of the Dead there appears a flame that starts engulfing their army.  The scene shifts to the Night King’s lieutenants and they seem to appear shaken.  The largest of the 3 dragons lands in front of Jon and looks at him and bends his head towards Jon.  Jon recognizes the gesture and climbs aboard the dragon and they take to the sky.  Dany makes another appearance when a huge dragon comes up behind her and she flies off away from the fighting.  Jon starts taking out huge patches of the Night Kings army with the dragon that he is riding and the other 2 do the same.  Dany sneaks up on one of the huge fire breathing dragons and Drogon’s blue white flames hits the wings of the beast and it falls from the sky.  Jon seeing this and also sees that Dany is pregnant has to make a choice.  He banks from fighting killing the wights and outflanks Dany and has the huge dragon breath fire on the woman who he once loved and she, his unborn son or daughter and Drogon are disintegrated in flame (will be a longer fight).  The Night King’s army is destroyed, King’s Landing is in the hands of Jon and crew and the day has been won.  A lot of good people died in the fighting.  The Night King however left the fight and never returned.  Jon tells them he has to return to Winterfell because of something that Bran told him before they parted.  Arya asks to go along and they fly away; both on dragon back.  The other dragon also takes flight beside them.

Chapter 12: The Last Battle

Click here to see how the battle between Bran and Night King goes down

Bran after warging the Night King will begin his second life as the enemy he fought so hard to defeat.  He will come out of the Winterfell crypts using his own legs (sort of) and climb aboard Viserieon and take to the skies.  He will then land walk around the home he knew as a boy.  Jon and Arya will approach from the skies and Bran will see them approaching.

Bran will walk towards Jon bearing Lightbringer in hand.  Bran is talking to him but not realizing that Jon can’t understand him, he’s speaking White Walker, when Arya will sneak up behind him; Faceless man quiet and stab him with the valyrian steel dagger.  Bran’s second life doesn’t last too long.  Could he have possibly warged into one of the two dragons Jon came back with?  Jon flies back to King’s Landing with Arya where Gendry asks for her hand in marriage.  To everyone’s surprise she says yes.  Everyone hails Jon as the conquering hero and proclaims him King.  Sam tells Jon goodbye and he flies off on dragon back never to be seen again.  Sam tells them after some time had passed that Bran had told him that Jon would never return.  He also told them that Bran told him that Gendry was actually the true born son of Cersei and Robert.  The council government came together and officially named Gendry of the House Baratheon, first of his name, King of the Andals and the first men, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms and protector of the realm.

Chapter 13: Time to go to bed

We see a book close and a child says “read it to me again”.  Little Sam now a man grown and has a wife of his own is reading a bedtime story to one of his children.  When the book is set aside, we see the name “A Game of Throne – by Samwell Tarley”.  Maybe tomorrow if you are good; now go to bed before the grumpkins come calling.

The final scene falls with Jon Snow walking alone in the falling snow.  A title appears that reads “The Age of Heroes”.  We see White Walkers with blue eyes appear in that darkness riding Ice Spiders and he unsheathes Lightbringer.  They flee back to where they came and Jon makes his way back to civilization.  When he gets back a woman smiles at him and she asks his name.  He looks at her for a moment and answers Jon Dayne.  THE END

I didn’t have time to sync up every timeline.  Know that I believe that Bran doesn’t jump back in time until after most of the events take place.  This is how he knows how things play out and the stories that we have heard so much during this series are just him retelling them in the past.  Click here for an example of that.  In the books there is a section to me that shows Bran talking with Jon as the 3EC before Bran even leaves for his journey north of the Wall.  It seemed to me that he was prepping Jon to replace him.  I think Jon is able to go back because he did the same thing that Bran did and jumped back in time as well.  Click here to see that interaction between Bran and Jon.

There are loose ends about other characters but if you really want to know what I think about them just read my blog.  I’m not even advertising on my blog so don’t say I’m trying to drive traffic there for profit.  I truly just wanted to share with anyone who wants to read it.

Comments encouraged.  Love to hear the idea’s of others.  Most believe that since I present my idea’s as “fact like” I’m not open to change my viewpoints which is far from the truth.  I simply look at the information presented and go from there.  If you can shine a light on another way of thinking that opens the door to debate.
