Passages from the Wheel of Time:
“A wedding, good mistress?
Why, we've had a lifetime of weddings. A plague of them. All in the last two
days. There isn't a woman old enough to speak the betrothal remains unmarried,
not in the whole village, not for a mile in any direction."
“People like that —
changed — things around them. A ta'veren might have caused all those weddings.
But that was too close to something he did not want to think about”

Perrin - Rand - Mat |
“There have been
marriages, as many in the last four days as in half a year before. And as many
murders as in a whole year."
|
Perrin - Mat - Ramd |
"That had not been
caused by the Power, but by his ta’veren nature changing probability. Wherever
he visited, remarkable and random events occurred. Large numbers of births,
deaths, weddings and accidents. He had learned to ignore them."

I know the weddings and deaths as seen through
the lens that is the Game of Thrones seems to have come about simply because of
the making of political alliances but were they really? The way I see it they all centered on the
person who I believe to be a hidden Targaryen (i.e. Ta’veren) yet not disclosed. That person is Tyrion Lannister (i.e. Mat Cauthon a ta’veren from the Wheel of Time).
Many people who see Mat gambling, especially dice, declare that he seems to have the Dark
One's own luck. Ta’veren’s put simply influence
events around them weaving the Pattern that is the Wheel of Time.

Matt with Dice |
Tyrion going to the Wall and not leaving
until events line up perfectly to be taken captive by Catelyn Stark at the
Crossroads Inn (perfectly named as it is the point where Catelyn made the
crucial decision of taking Tyrion prisoner that only now we are seeing the far
reaching consequences of her actions). Catelyn’s
actions were setup by the fact that she was told by Petyr Baelish that the
dagger used in Bran’s failed assassination attempt belonged to Tyrion. Petyr in my opinion is the Padan Fain
character in the Wheel of Time and anyone who’s read the series knows that the
ruby-hilted dagger in that series almost led to the death of Matt as the Valyrion Steel dagger almost
lead to Tyrion’s death. Tyrion’s luck
then proceeds to get him out of what seemed to be his untimely death at the
hands of Lysa Arryn when he enlists the aid of Bronn and he saves him in trial by combat. Although he is freed he still
faces almost certain death along the High Road because they are surrounded by
the men of the mountain clans. Instead of death he recruits the men and makes
them a part of his entourage. Tyrion’s
mountain men are similar to Mat’s Band of the Red Hand (both consist of 5
different groups of men coming together to fight for a single individual). Tyrion’s luck along with his knowledge
(likely coming from his constant reading and drinking in Tywin’s battle
prowess) gets him through several battles that again looks like will lead to
his eventual death. Mat had the same
luck in battles spurred by the knowledge put in his head of centuries of battle
commanders giving him the nickname “Son of Battles”. These events in my opinion are what lead to
all the deaths that occur in both the Red Wedding and the Purple Wedding.

The Valyrian Steel Dagger that was used in the Assassination attempt on Bran If you don't see the similarities then I can't convince you no matter what I say. |
|
Padan Fain with the Ruby-Hilted Daggger The Dagger originally belong to Mat If you remember Littlefinger said the Valyrian Steel Dagger said it belonged to him originally He then said that Tyrion won it from him on a wager. This was simply reversed in the Game of Thrones. It belonged to Mat first and then Padan Fain stole it. |

I simply believe that events surrounding the Targaryen's are weaving the Pattern that George RR Martin is spinning. Tyrion's luck seems to assist him in getting out of precarious situations but it also seems to get him and the other's that I believe are the 3 Ta'veren's of this story into those same situations. Bottom line I truly believe the weddings and you can throw in the wedding of Renly Baratheon and Margaery Tyrell, which was also a result of Tyrion's capture via Catelyn Stark, the byproduct was the death of Renly.

Again I would have you look at the big picture and begin to see all the similarities that I have begun to shine a light upon. I am just getting started so again stay tuned.

encouraged. Love to hear the idea’s of others. Most believe that
since I present my idea’s as “fact like” I’m not open to change my viewpoints
which is far from the truth. I simply look at the information presented
and go from there. If you can shine a light on another way of thinking
that opens the door to debate.
